Make an Edgy Statement

SEASON 1, EPISODE 3

Here’s a really fun idea. Make an edgy statement with your tee.

You’ll need:

  • Old solid color tee

  • Safety Pins

  • Blue water soluble pen

First you’ll want to figure out what you’d like to spell out on your t shirt. Next you’ll have to be sure that the safety pins can recreate each letter of the words.

I’m going to spell something meaningful and simple.

Take your blue water soluble ink pen and trace an outline of where you’d like to place your letters. Not to worry about the pen marks, they disappear when washed with water.

Let me just start a letter and I’d like to save the finished product for a reveal later In the show.

 

HACK 2: DIY REUSABLE GROCERY BAG
The next idea to repurpose your big old comfy tshirts is to make a reusable grocery bag

You’ll need:

  • T-Shirt (the bigger the better). The bigger the tee, the bigger your bag, the more shopping you can do! WooHoo!

  • White or colored pencil from dry-goods department

  • Scissors made for fabric cutting (demo what happens when you don't use fabric scissors)

  • Ruler

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cut away along all seams: neckline, sleeves and bottom edge.

  • Take a ruler and measure 6” down from armpit

  • Draw line across bottom of tee shirt. This will be the start fringe design.

  • Using a ruler and pencil, make tick marks every ½”. This will be your fringe design.

  • Cut your fringe design

  • Double knot front and back of each fringe piece. This will close up the bottom of your bag
